Dr. Candace Aasan is the Clinical Director of Cascade Natural Medicine.  She specializes in pediatrics and women’s health and gynecology. Dr. Aasan has extensive training and experience in the care of newborns, infants, and toddlers.  She most enjoys the hour long “well child” visits, where she gets to personally know each and every child.  Helping parents navigate through vaccine information and alternative vaccination schedules is one of the many reasons parents choose Dr. Aasan as their child's provider.  Dr. Aasan also specializes in treating children with neurodevelopmental and behavior disorders such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders.  Her special interests and talents in women’s healthcare include pregnancy and postpartum complaints, bio-identical hormone replacement, infertility, menstrual difficulties, and detoxification.  Dr. Aasan is a guest lecturer in the Botanical Medicine Department at Bastyr University and is Affiliate Clinical Faculty of Bastyr University.

Dr. Candace Aasan is a Naturopathic Physician, and is a Licensed Primary Care Provider in Washington State. She was awarded her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and certificate in Midwifery from Bastyr University in 2002. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Western Washington University.

She integrates conventional medical knowledge with her Naturopathic Medical expertise to create individualized treatments for each patient. Emphasis is placed on the importance of health promotion and disease prevention, and patients are encouraged to take an active role in their health and healing. Dr. Aasan takes the time to understand her patients, integrating symptomatic treatment with preventive medicine.

Dr. Aasan is accepting new clients on a very limited basis in her medical practice. She frequently teaches and lectures in the community, with most recent topics including infant food introduction, vaccine updates, and home treatments for pediatric cold and flus. She is a member of the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians, American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and the Midwives Association of Washington State. Her hobbies include rock climbing and hiking. She resides on the eastside with her husband and two daughters.

Dr. Robin Russell graduated from Bastyr University in 2005 and opened her clinic, Natural Pediatric Medicine, later that year in Issaquah.  After practicing for two years in Issaquah, she was invited by Dr. Candace Aasan, the director of Cascade Natural Medicine, to join her clinic.  Dr. Robin Russell joined Cascade Natural Medicine in October of 2007.

Before attending medical school, Dr. Russell completed her undergraduate work at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry.  After completing her undergraduate education, Dr. Russell wanted to take a year off from college, and accepted a teaching position at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, Connecticut where she taught chemistry.  The very next fall, Dr. Russell was accepted into the naturopathic program at Bastyr University and began her medical education.

Dr. Russell’s expertise in pediatric medicine stems from extensive clinical training with women and children while attending Bastyr University.  Before completion of her degree, Dr. Russell studied with Dr. Aasan and truly grew to love working with women and children.  Dr. Russell also studied at several Planned Parenthood locations in Connecticut before graduating from Bastyr to refine her skills in women’s health and gynecology.  While in her first year of practice, Dr. Russell wanted to acquire further knowledge and experience in pediatrics and pursued additional training with a pediatrician in her community.  She continues to expand her knowledge regularly by researching and attending lectures on pediatric and women’s health topics.

Dr. Russell’s special interest in pediatric healthcare includes promotion of health and wellness during well child exams by addressing any health concerns at each visit, assessing nutritional requirements, assessing developmental milestones, complete physical exam and full discussion on topics and health/safety issues related to each age group.  She offers parents much guidance in making the right decisions for their children regarding vaccines and offers alternative vaccine scheduling suitable for each individual parent and child’s needs. Dr. Russell’s particular areas of pediatric interest include food allergy testing for common childhood problems such as eczema, chronic ear infections, and ADHD.  Dr. Russell’s areas of interest in women’s health include pregnancy planning and nutrition, pregnancy and postpartum complaints, hormone imbalances, menopausal symptoms and gynecology.  Another area of interest for Dr. Russell is using amino acid therapy for behavioral or neurological problems like ADHD, depression, and anxiety.

Dr. Russell is a licensed primary care provider in the state of Washington and is an active member of both the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and Washington State Association of Naturopathic Physicians.  Dr. Russell resides on the eastside with her husband and daughter.  She enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Bek Wiltbank is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist, and has worked with children with special needs for 4 years. Please refer to her website for more information on the services she offers:  www.four-directions.com.

She says, “My work with families has been a beautiful journey, walking with them as they discover that their child has special needs, helping assess those needs, and together creating a plan of action. I am now working in Craniosacral Therapy, and continue to offer Occupational Therapy services through Parent Coaching and advising services.

Parent coaching is my passion, as a child’s needs are best met through the actions of the parent, and less so through hands-on actions of a therapist. Through teaming with parents on assessment and treatment of their child’s challenges, parents find that they are capable of advocating for their child, and are the expert in determining those needs.

I believe that all parents are healers. I believe children choose their parents. My work is to help parents feel their own competence, and grow into the parent they want to be.”

Education History:
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Master of Occupational Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy Level I, Upledger Institute
